Positional/Weight Bearing MRI
Some of the time a conventional, lying down MRI, may miss detecting the cause of pain or illness. Now you can be scanned in the position that causes the pain. Some problems are only detectable when the patient is scanned in an upright position. The spine and many joints change shape and stability when they are weight bearing. by scanning these joints in a weight bearing position the radiologist is able to see the instability that may be hidden when an MRI is performed on the same joints not bearing weight.
The positional MRI is also open so that patients who have fear of closed spaces will be more comfortable than in a traditional MRI.
